Eyebrows were raised in late May when it was revealed that Manny Pacquiao would be returning to the ring. The legendary boxer revealed on social media that he would be taking on the reigning WBC welterweight champion Mario Barrios in Las Vegas.
History has followed throughout the Filipino’s career, and he will be aiming to break his own record as the oldest welterweight world champion. Pacquiao set that record back in 2019 after defeating Keith Thurman to capture the WBA title.
The 46-year-old is one of the most recognized fighters in the history of the sport, holding 12 world championships across eight weight classes. However, he was beaten in his last fight by Yordenis Ugas in August 2021, marking his eighth professional loss in 72 bouts. But, it was his third defeat in his last seven.
