Event Preview
Montreal hosts the tenth race on the Formula 1 schedule for 2025 this weekend. The Canadian Grand Prix has been held at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve since 2022, with Lewis Hamilton and Michael Schumacher holding the t records for the most wins. A total distance of 189.694 miles will be covered this weekend, with the field completing a total of 70 laps.
McLaren remain the team to catch on the F1 grid, with the constructor winning eight of the nine Grand Prix in 2025. Oscar Piastri has seized control of the Championship race, winning four of the last six races. That includes a dominant drive last time out in Spain to hold off teammate Lando Norris.

Norris was supposed to be the main contender for the Drivers’ Championship in 2025, but despite finishing on the podium in all but one of the races, he has needed to settle for second best behind his teammate. The pressure will be on to make up ground on Piastri this weekend.
Max Verstappen made the headlines for the wrong reasons in Barcelona following a collision with George Russell. But the defending champion has still shown his quality this season to remain within touching distance of the front two in the championship despite being in a slower car.
Russell has arguably been the most consistent of the drivers behind the McLaren pair. The Mercedes driver has already achieved four podium finishes this season, and ran well for a long way in Spain last time out when taking fourth.
Barcelona was a morale-boosting weekend for Charles Leclerc, as the Ferrari driver claimed a second podium in succession. However, Lewis Hamilton’s struggles continued after finishing back in sixth. But, the race pace in the Ferrari is improving, and they could go under the radar this weekend.
Canadian Grand Prix Picks
A traditional circuit should play to the strengths of McLaren this weekend, meaning the top two in the championship should have the race between them. However, Piastri’s consistency has been eye-catching this season, and he is our main pick to win the Canadian Grand Prix.
